How to build, submit and get paid for themes and plugins on Wcart.

A theme is configuration, not code. Pages built from Wcart’s own sections, plus colours, fonts and optional presets. Nothing is deployed and there is no server.

Steps

  1. Create the listingOn New listing, choose Theme. You land on its Design step.
  2. DetailsDescription, screenshots, category, demo URL and your price (in your currency).
  3. Design on your dev storeOpen your dev store’s admin from the Design step: start from a theme in Appearance → Themes, then shape colours, fonts, header, footer and pages. Add a few products so it looks real, and check the storefront.
  4. Package & presetsPress Import from your dev store to capture its current look as your theme package (or a saved look), or upload the file from Appearance → Themes → Export. Then add presets if you want them, and save.
  5. SubmitSubmit version 1.0.0. After review and approval, Wcart publishes it to the theme catalogue and prices it.

The theme package

Import writes this for you. If you upload or paste instead, it is the format Theme Studio exports:

{
  "wcart_theme_package": 1,
  "name": "Bias Cut",
  "slug": "bias-cut",
  "theme":  { "category": "Fashion", "description": "…", "theme_colors": {…}, "theme_fonts": {…} },
  "bundle": { "home": { "components": [ … ] }, "about": {…}, "header_id": 3, … }
}

It needs a name, a slug and a bundle with at least a home page, may be up to 2 MB and cannot reference React components.

Presets

A preset is the same theme in a different palette or typeface. Merchants choose one. Add them in the preset editor, or in the package:

"presets": [
  { "name": "Midnight", "slug": "midnight", "is_default": true,
    "theme_colors": { "primary_color": "#111827" }, "theme_fonts": { "heading_font": "Lora" } },
  { "name": "Sand", "description": "Warm neutrals", "theme_colors": { "base_color": "#C2A878" } }
]

Every field except name overrides the theme; leave it out to keep the theme’s value. Slugs must be unique and at most one preset is the default. Publishing adds each preset beside the theme; a new version removes presets it no longer has.

Guidelines

  • Design with real products and long names; check phones as well as desktop.
  • Use presets for variants of one design, not separate listings.
  • Screenshots must show your theme as it ships. Reviewers preview every theme before approving.
  • Plan-included themes earn while a store has your theme applied, so a theme stores keep is worth more than a popular one they switch away from.
